অনেকটা পথ পাড়ি দিলাম,
ক্লান্ত আমি, শ্রান্ত আমি।
এখনো পাড়ি দিতে হবে অনেকটা পথ-
সামনে অথৈ সমুদ্র, যেন মহাসমুদ্র।
সাথী ছোট্ট ডিঙ্গি নৌকা, একমাত্র ভরসা
শুরু হলো আবার দীর্ঘ যাত্রা, অনন্ত যাত্রা।
চলছে ডিঙ্গি ধীরে ধীরে, গতিশীল করার মত
সক্ষমতা আমার নেই,
চলছে ডিঙ্গি গভীর থেকে গভীর সমুদ্রে;

হঠাৎ আকাশ অন্ধকার, শুরু হলো ঝড়ের তান্ডব
হিশ হিশ করে ফণা তুলে উঠা সর্পিল ঢেউ
সমস্ত পৃথিবী দংশন করার পণ করেছে যেন;
জীবন আঁকড়ে ধরে পাটাতন,
বেঁচে থাকার তীব্র আকাঙ্খা আশ্রয় নেয় ডিঙ্গির বুকে।
ডিঙ্গি প্রলয়ঙ্কারী ঢেউয়ের তালে দুলতে দুলতে এগিয়ে চলছে,
এক সময় স্থির হলো পৃথিবী,
ভাসছে ডিঙ্গি, ভাসছি আমি।

অবশেষে এবং অবশেষে শেষ হলো ভয়ঙ্কর সমুদ্র যাত্রা,
তীরে পৌঁছল ডিঙ্গি।
একী! মরুভুমি !
যতুদূর দৃষ্টি যায়, ধু ধু মরুভূমি।
শ্রান্ত আমি, ক্লান্ত আমি, অশহায় আমি
ডিঙ্গি ছিল সহায়, কিন্তু এখন?

একটি উট, অসহায় জীর্ণ কিন্ত অপেক্ষমান,
যেন আমারি অপেক্ষায়
দু'ফোঁটা সস্তি নির্গত হলো।
আবার শুরু হলো অনন্ত যাত্রা
মরু ঝড়, প্রচন্ড উত্তাপ উত্তীর্ণ করে
পৌঁছলাম এক লোকালয়ে;

শুরু হলো আবার যাত্রা,
তবে এ যাত্রা জীবন ধারনের নয়
জীবন সাজাবার, অভীষ্ট লক্ষ্যে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হবার।

আজ আমি সমাজে প্রতিষ্ঠিত, সম্ভ্রান্ত একজন।
আমার অস্তিত্বের কোথাও কোনদিনও
উপলব্ধিতে এক মুহূর্তের জন্যেও
উকিঁ দেয়নি কারও উপকার,
কারণ আমি স্বার্থপর
আর স্বার্থপর বলেই আমি প্রতিষ্ঠিত।

সেই ডিঙ্গি, উট আজও অপেক্ষায় আছে
আমার মত , আমাদের মত কারো প্রতীক্ষায়;
